The Spring Invitational, hosted by Berkeley Art Center & 500 Capp Street

Join us for an extraordinary weekend of creativity and collaboration, hosted by two vibrant organizations in a shared mission of fostering sustainability and planting seeds within our Bay Area arts ecosystem. Together, 500 Capp Street and Berkeley Art Center are presenting a joint fundraiser including an art sale, film screenings with Canyon Cinema, performances, and opening party.

THE SALE

Featuring well over 100 artists, this fundraiser sale provides you exclusive access to new and contemporary works from our vibrant local arts scene. Purchase sliding-scale tickets for FIRST ACCESS to the sale (with complimentary entry to all other events) or purchase admission for a specific day or event!

FRIDAY, MAY 3

VIP + DAY 1 SALE ACCESS (4pm-7pm): $200-$400

  • First access to 100+ works on from 4-7PM

  • Access to all other events, including DAY 2 Film Screenings and DAY 3 performances

    OPENING PARTY ONLY (7pm -10pm): $10-$30 (no sales access)

  • Join us for an opening party with a DJ set by Dreams!

  • Celebrate the artists and this exciting collaboration


SATURDAY, MAY 4

DAY 2 SALE ACCESS (4pm -7pm): $125

  • Access to DAY 2 of the Spring Invitational SALE plus:

  • Access to Canyon Cinema Film Installations and Screening Programs, featuring:

  • Anthony McCall: Solid Light Works & Line Describing a Cone (4pm)

  • TT Takemoto screenings (6pm)

  • complimentary Canyon Cinema Membership included

  • Portrait Booth with PALM ASSEMBLY

  • Light sculptures by Rico Duenas

  • Pop-up cafe with with ShiriniBakes and Fox & Lion

    A portion of the proceeds for these tickets go to Canyon Cinema.


    FILM SCREENING ONLY
    (8pm - 9:30pm):
    $75 (no sales access) | 8-9:30pm

  • At dusk, outdoor cinema with a curated selection of films from Canyon Cinema: Seeing Sound, featuring filmmakers Mary Ellen Bute, Oskar Fischinger, Stan VanDerBeek, Barry Spinello, Jodie Mack, Tomonari Nishikawa, and Tommy Becker.

    100% of the proceeds from this ticket goes directly to Canyon Cinema.

SUNDAY, MAY 5

DAY 3 SALE ACCESS (3pm -6pm) $60-$75

  • Access to purchasing remaining works left in the sale after DAY 1 & 2

  • "Raise Your Paddle" Support Auction

  • Exciting performances by Ava Koohbor, Beast Nest, Evicshen, London Pinkney, Sholeh Asgary, and Sun Park.

Masks are highly encouraged and will be provided on site for this event.
