ARTIST STATEMENT
I capture evocative moments of space and time to convey a type of complex and transitional imagery that is not linear or narrative but a result of dissolving or deconstructing an image. Using landscape as a conceptual point of departure, I am interested in exploring the intuitive and subconscious process of artistic creation that encompasses a melding of memories, feelings, and lived experiences. I strive for spontaneity combined with a sense of clarity in my improvisational working method, turning obstacles into opportunities, infused with the joy of discovery while continuously challenging the transformation of the concept of landscape into my view of the world and beyond. A personal upheaval inspired me to use bold colors and forms in making collages. These evolved into the recent paintings.
