This digital photography workshop is created for artists working in 2D and 3D projects with creative, simple and affordable approaches to photographing your artwork for archival, exhibition, or reproduction purposes. Teaching artist Felix Quintana will guide you through essential steps to photographing your art, whether using a DSLR/mirrorless camera, point and shoot camera, or mobile phone, as well share a variety of editing techniques using free and accessible desktop and mobile software. 

Instructions:

Please come prepared with a camera (DSLR/mirrorless, point & shoot, or mobile phone), 1–3 artworks that you would like to photograph, as well as other suggested materials to which you have access. 

Materials:

Camera, white/black cards, c-stand rig, editing software, color card, tripod, light sources (will provide links)

about Felix

Felix Quintana is an artist, photographer, and educator best known for experimental photography and socially engaged artwork. He has exhibited at the Vincent Price Art Museum in Monterey Park, LAXART in West Hollywood, SOMArts Cultural Center and Southern Exposure in San Francisco, The Dot Project in London, Residency Art Gallery in Inglewood, MACLA in San Jose, Lancaster MOAH, and Vox Populi in Philadelphia, among others. His work has been featured in National Public Radio (NPR), ARTNews, The Guardian, Los Angeles Times, Gallery Platform LA, and more. Quintana has served as educator and teaching artist at the Hammer Museum, Self Help Graphics & Art, Slanguage Studio, artworxLA, Las Fotos Project, Plaza de La Raza, Southern Exposure, and many more. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
