Shifting between California and Europe, Jan Wurm's figuration is bred of European darkness and L.A. light. The interior psychological landscape of the observer reveals the disconnected as well as the bridged. The broad gesture and the subtle stance find voice in a vocabulary of drawn mark and symbolic color. Wurm's work has found its place in public collections in San Francisco and Berlin as it straddles and references both cultures. RSVPs are strongly encouraged by calling 510.644.6893 or e-mail annw [at] berkeleyartcenter.org Artwork: Sunscreen, 2010, |
